  3. Computerized Videokeratoscopes

  6. With the advances in computer 
  7. technology and video cameras, 
  8. computerized videokeratoscopes were 
  9. developed.  Most, but not all, of the 
  10. present corneal topography instruments 
  11. still use a modified PlacidoΓÇÖs disc as 
  12. the target.  The concentric pattern of 
  13. rings is then captured by a CCD TV 
  14. camera and digitized by an image 
  15. processing board in a computer.  Once 
  16. the image is digitized mathematical 
  17. computations can be performed to 
  18. determine the corneal shape.
